PROJECT BRIEF

A 35,000 sq.ft development by Supercity, known as The Chronicle Apart-hotels, is ideally placed to access London’s business districts, with just a 2-minute walk from Chancery Lane tube station.

Designed by Architects Rolfe Judd, the new apart-hotel offers a range of 53 luxury apartments, two-floor state of the art offices and an on-site gastropub.

WMS Underfloor Heating faced a few challenges; an uneven sub-floor, meaning our system was not suitable at first, and a speedy programme with a challenging site location, surrounded by a one-way road system. This reduced access to-site and therefore not allowing for a traditional screeded system.

PROJECT SOLUTION

WMS worked closely with the client to develop a floor construction design with UFH. Due to the challenging sub-floor, WMS revised the original floor build-up system and provided a bespoke floor construction from the sub-floor through to the underside of floor finishes with the AmbiFloat10 system. Work included the subfloor preparation and levelling, acoustic membrane and a structural overlay board which was installed by the main contractor.

END RESULT

Over eight-storeys, the new apart-hotel provides stylish and sophisticated apartments which are one of a kind in Chancery Lane with Underfloor heating. With a positive and skilful team, the challenges encountered were overcome with ease, which allowed for the project to be completed successfully without any delay.
